![]() Overall, Larson's texts are good for developing non-proof based skill and problem solving agility in the subjects mentioned above. I used his sequence & series chapters to prep for differential equations. His linear algebra text picks up right where his calc texts leave off. All his precalc texts (algebra, trig, precalc, etc.) have a pretty seamless intro to analytic geometry.Aesthetically speaking, the books seem to strike a decent balance between old school b&w books and these color/picture saturated clusterfucks seen all too often these days. Larson's writing style is clear and concise.Whenever stumped reviewing examples in corresponding sections will likely clue you into what you're doing wrong.Solutions to even numbered problems at end of text. Problems gradually increase in difficulty. Problem sets are organized in such a way as to follow the order of concept presented in corresponding sections. Exercises: Plenty of problems at the end of each section.Well organized non-rigorous exposition: Concept→Theorem→Example→Concept→Theorem→Example→etc.Things I appreciate about Larson's style: The style was very consistent throughout those texts so I'm confident my opinion will be true for his pr-calculus texts. I did, however, use his Elementary and Intermediate Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, and Linear Algebra texts. I didn't use his pre-calc book to review/learn. I can personally couch for Ron Larson's books.
